Gabrielle Scawthorn
Originally from Australia, Gabrielle trained at The National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) and the Atlantic Theatre Company.
She recently played a run of parts in Alexander Zeldin’s The Confessions, taking the play from Sydney to a pan-European tour via the National Theatre to great acclaim.
She has received four Sydney Theatre Award nominations for Best Leading Actor for Stopkiss (2015, Unlikely production), Village Bike (2017, Old Fitz Theatre), Ironbound (2018, Kings Cross Theatre), The Apologists (2022, The Old 505). Other theatre credits include: Midsummer Nights Dream (Bell Shakespeare), The Apologists (UK Tour), The Underpants (Seymour Centre – Broadway World Award Nom), E-Baby (Ensemble Theatre – Broadway World Award Nom), Hurt (Australian Tour/Old 505/Belvoir Downstairs), Fourplay(Darlinghurst Theatre Company), Sound of Waiting (Darlinghurst Theatre Company), Bloodbank (Ensemble Theatre), Ear To The Edge of Time (Seymour Centre).
Gabrielle was also a founding member of the sketch comedy group I’m With Stupid writing and producing content for Funny or Die, ABC2 and ABC iView. In 2020 she created and hosted the successful podcast Back From Reality investigating the human impact of the reality TV industry. From these interviews, she developed the play Realing which received a workshop at The National Theatre Studio.
